There are numerous guides on the Internet
that are available for further consultations on fundamental
web design issues that when applied with the content creation
techniques outlined in Phase 1 and 2 can result in the development
of web sites that deliver for people living in developing
settings. Know them!
1. This is one of the best internationally
known guru on web sites - Jakob Nielsen's Web. Visit his web
site which has essential tips and numerous examples of building
really effective web sites - http://www.useit.com
2. The web site - http://www.usaid.gov/regions/afr/leland/tutorial/index.htm,
was developed under the auspices of the USAID project - the
Leland Initiative. It includes a good introduction about the
bare bones of HTML -the main language used to build web pages
and some essential web design fundamentals.
Practical Guideline
11: Follow good web interface design principles. Use
different types of content i.e. text and graphics to effectively
convey the message in a way that is easily accessible and
understood by the community of users.
