The climate is tropical , and its capital is Praia.
Agriculture forms its main economic base. Crops
grown for domestic consumption include: aloes,
coconuts, corn, bananas, and sweet potatoes; whilst
coffee, sugar, and bananas are exported. There
are more than 100 species of birds in Cape Verde,
along with monkeys, butterflies, lizards, and
sea turtles.
Cape Verde is hot and dry for most of the year.
Volcanic rocks from the islands, which are useful
for moulding cement, are also exported. It gained
independence in 1975, and since then, has become
a centre for international conferences.
Overview of Property in Cape Verde - So Much
More Beach within Investment Reach
Wonderful and increasingly less wild - an exotic
and hitherto undeveloped clutch of West African
islands washed by the hot Atlantic Ocean each
an idiosyncratic microcosm in its own right.
Sal - the most advanced of the three islands
and the least southwards is currently benefiting
from a massive economic surge as $25 million dollars
pour in from investors covering this smallest
island with hotel and leisure facilities.
Most popular of the three islands not least for
its International Surfing Championships Sal's
unseen subaqua geography with its powerful current
and magnificent waves is as much a tourist pull
as the endless sunshine and white hot sands.
Surfers and aqua sports enthusiasts throng this
popular island as fast as accommodation can be
thrown up to house them.
The most desirable, it is also the most expensive
of the islands with a 2 bed beach flat (studio
style) costing a very humble £57,000. Set
to rise in price as the island becomes increasingly
saturated with fewer and fewer available building
plots/properties this flat with comfortable room
for a family of four brings short-term rental
returns, year round holiday heaven and exponential
equity profits to the investor. Lifestyle choice
meets investment ideals...
Boa Vista - this island, further south than Sal
boasts miles and miles of even, delicious, perfect
sands. Less developed that its sister Sal there
are bigger deals for your money on this beach
horizon. Not only will you be able to purchase
an open plan beachside property with 3 bedrooms
and a spacious roof-terrace ranging from £50,000
- £87,000 (depending upon the scale of your
ambitions) but you will be able to do that most
investment conscious of all practices - buy off
plan. Purchased this way your property will be
worth up to 20% more within the next 12 months.
35 minutes by plane and you arrive at the most
southwards island of Santiago. The airport is
due to be finished in the next 3 months so this
is a longer term investment maturing in around
10-15 years time. An entirely different prospect
with verdant landscape interspersed with semi-built
large detached properties one such completed project
costing a mere £67,000 with enormous roof
terrace and inner garden open-roofed sanctuary
within the four walls of the house. Idyllic.
