Your holiday might not be complete if you forget to visit the famous James Island. You can get to this historic Island by a special boat ride, which normally should not cost you more than D200(£i2) for a return journey.

All you have to do is to join a bus for Banjul (if you are in the Kombos) and then taxi, on arrival in Banjul, to the harbour where a ferry that ply between the capital, Banjul and the border town, Barra comes every other hour. The ferry fare is D5. From Barra to Dakar is about six hours journey and should cost about D75($7.5) or its equivalent of the Senegalese currency(CFA francs).
